100 processor usage svchost exe

100% Processor usage - svchost.exe

My machine runs with 100% processor used up by svchost.exe
I
have read other posts suggesting to disable Windows Update, but having done this, I still have the problem.
Any ideas? The problem seems to have occurred after a recent update.

I am also looking for a solution to this problem. Using sysinternals process explorer, the svchost process that is eating up so much cpu (more than 50% on my AMD X2-3800+)is responsible for these processes:
DHCP Client Security Center TCP/IP Netbios Helper Windows Audio Windows Event Log
Disabling these services did not stop the cpu hunger. Until I find a fix, on each reboot, I set the priority of this svchost process to the lowest so it doesnt affect me so much...
This did seem to start after a windows update a week or two ago..

I believe some of this has been relieved in the 5456 version. I'm not an official tester so I can't get my hands on it (wish I could though!)

I had the exact same problem as this and I found that after waiting (leave the computer running for say an hour or so) then restarted my PC it was fine. "Hank" wrote in message
